The Women’s is Australia’s leading

independent specialist hospital for women dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women of all ages and cultures, and new born babies. The Women’s is a major teaching hospital with strong affiliations to the University of Melbourne, with research and education integral to its role. 

The Women's Mental Health Department is well staffed with full time and sessional psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, a psychiatric consultation liaison nurse and infant mental health clinicians. A wide range of clinical and audit meetings and specific teaching sessions for doctors in training is provided. 

Trainees in these positions have an opportunity to develop high level skills in this specialised and rewarding area of practice and trainees are supported and encouraged to undertake research. There are opportunities for trainees to attend regular CL meetings at the RMH, participate in educational meetings with both RMH and Peter Mac, have supervision with Infant Mental Health Clinicians, undertake a variety of psychotherapies in their clinical practice, and participate in both internal and external training and education sessions.

Registrars will have the opportunity to co-therapy groups and undertake NBO training.

About you:

These positions are accredited for advanced training by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and are particularly suited to trainees who wish to pursue a career in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry or Women's Mental Health. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and application for Job Share/Part time positions will be considered.Candidates should preferably be Stage 3 Advanced Trainees, in either Consultation Liaison Psychiatry or Generalist training, but we may consider Stage 2 Trainees

The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed and in accordance to the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement -.
