**The Team**

You will join a high performing team of leaders across the country that facilitates the readiness of the agency and the proper conduct of electoral events.

Assistant Directors, Operations work across the state to lead small teams of staff to deliver face to face services, electoral event planning and delivery.

Reporting to the Director Operations, you will be an active participant in the broader Queensland leadership team, modelling exceptional behaviours and contributing to our culture, business planning and deliverables.

**The Opportunities**

We are looking for strong leaders who are agile, self-motivated and results-driven to manage state election planning, delivery and evaluation.

You will be responsible for leading a team of Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders to manage daily operations and to financially forecast, plan and successfully deliver electoral events.

You will also be responsible for assisting with the mobilisation of over 100,000 temporary election workforce staff during an election, using your excellent leadership skills to support and manage significant numbers of these employees in the surge workforce.

You will contribute to the development of team objectives for short-term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives, including setting priorities for the work area, maintaining team cohesion and ensuring quality of outputs for the work area.

Using excellent communication skills, you will be required to manage multiple stakeholder relationships effectively and deliver quality results within tight deadlines. Your work will require you to take initiative, have strong attention to detail and utilise analytical skills to contribute to business improvement strategies.

During an election, you will also need to be responsible and show professional resilience and personal drive to deal with the high demands and volume of work generated at election time.

There are currently two permanent opportunities available. These positions are based in the Brisbane office, however there may be scope to negotiate one of the positions to be based in any of the AEC offices across Queensland. Roles available will be dependent on the changing business needs and requirements of the AEC. Future opportunities may be filled on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis.
