**About the Program**

The Women Children and Family Health Service aims to support safe nurturing environments for pregnant women, infants and children, increase uptake and utilisation of services with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention, provide streamlined coordinated care and positive experiences for clients to encourage continued engagement with services. The Strengthening Early Years Project builds on the strengths and protective factors inherent in Aboriginal families and communities to support women, children and their families during pregnancy and the early years.

**About the Role**

Working under limited direction of the Manager, Women Children and Family Health, the primary role of the Strengthening Early Years Project Officer is and not limited to:

- In collaboration with the Project Consultant:

- support families, Elders and community develop their Family Story of Change for pregnancy and early childhood
- identify and complete foundational learning and development for the Project team
- In collaboration with the Project Lead:

- identify key activities for Phase 1 (establishment and preparation)
- coordinate allocation and use of Phase 1 Project funds
- In collaboration with the core Project Team
- Oversee day to day activities
- Act as the central point for day to day Phase 1 Project coordination, activities and communications
- Connect with other services and Projects Nunkuwarrin Yunti is engaged in
- Compile appropriate resources and information to inform Project activities
- Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocates as required
- Document project activities and outcomes and contribute to Project reporting
- Support, mentor and act as a role model for Project staff and families and identify leaders in the community to support Phase 1 Project activities
- Co-facilitate workshops and group activities with parents and carers to explore their understanding of child development, recognising and incorporating cultural strengths and Aboriginal ways of knowing and doing

**Remuneration**

This position is under the Nunkuwarrin Yunti Enterprise Agreement classification of **Corporate Services** Level **5 **(Salary sacrifice and paid Christmas and New Year break)

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
All positions within Nunkuwarrin Yunti of SA Inc will be required to undergo a six (6) months probationary period.

**ESSENTIAL - includes qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge.**
- Understanding and knowledge of social, health, and cultural issues effecting the Aboriginal and Torres islander families and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
- Experience working in community health programs and services that demonstrate best practice for Aboriginal Torres strait Islander clients
- Experience in the delivery of maternal, child and family health services and supports
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage key community groups and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and provide a consistently high level of service
- Ability to research, analyse and contribute to project planning and delivery
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to write reports and prepare external correspondence
- Demonstrated skills in managing diverse workloads and meeting work and budget targets within tight deadlines, despite conflicting pressures.
- Experience in the use of computer software and other databases appropriate for the role

- Experience in the project management, planning, design and delivery
- Experience in case management and care coordination
- Experience with budgets and Project Management tools (e.g. stakeholder engagement and communications)
