**The Role**
This EL 1 Assistant Director (AD) role is a busy and highly rewarding, executive level growth position within the Branch. The AD directly supports the Director led management of the compliance and quality framework that is the core role of the Directorate and will have direct areas of responsibility in maintaining and managing the Panels. The role requires a person with highly developed organisational skills, a drive for innovation, improvement and quality and a sound understanding of procurement and contract management in respect to Panels.

**About our Team**
Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch manages a growing $21 billion portfolio of major infrastructure and facility projects for the Department of Defence all over mainland Australia, and in some cases, remote Islands. This area develops and delivers major capital facilities and infrastructure projects to support the sustainment of the Defence estate, as well as Fundamental Input to Capability of new Defence assets.

Within this Branch is the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Compliance (DQAC) that manages the compliance framework, the procurement and contract management processes and the procedures and tools that support the delivery of projects within this portfolio.

The position will also have opportunities to deal with Industry across a range of forums, implement new policy and legislation, and deliver internal training to the broad users of the resources managed by the Directorate.
- You must have a strong demonstrated understanding of quality principles and be able to align quality activities and outcomes to a compliance framework.
- You must have an understanding of and the ability to implement continuous improvement practices and the ability to drive the associate change this generates.
- You should have a demonstrated understanding on the structure of Panel arrangements and be able to demonstrate skills that would enable you to manage and maintain the panels.
- You must demonstrate a high level of written, verbal, negotiation and communication skills and have the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels and with a range of audiences internally and externally to Defence to achieve outcomes.
- You must be able to work collaboratively within a dispersed team environment, be able to lead and work as part of a team to drive exciting change activities in order to deliver Defence’s objectives.
- You will be expected to demonstrate resilience, personal drive and enable others in support of Defence capability
- You must have a willingness to learn, be open to be challenged and have the skills to adapt and drive change in a positive manner
- You must also have the ability to adapt and re-prioritise work to meet deadlines that may change frequently, and work individually and with others within a small dynamic and dedicated team.
