**About the role**
Mater Health has an exciting newly created position for a Physiotherapy Assistant to join the team based at our South Brisbane campus This role is a full-time role until 30th June 2024 with a strong likelihood to extend and will see you join a multifaceted service incorporating all aspects of the care continuum for patients recovering from medical illness and surgical intervention.
**Salary range: $29.79 - $31.12 (OO3) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging**
**What you’ll be doing**
You will be joining a team of 90 remarkable people who service the physiotherapy needs of four Mater Brisbane Hospitals (Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane Mater Private Hospital Rehabilitation and Mater Children’s Private Brisbane). We also provide outpatient services within the Allied Health Clinic (public outpatients) and Health & Wellness Clinic (private outpatients).
We currently have five Physiotherapy Assistants within our team who, in addition to their clinical roles, take advantage of supported opportunities to be involved in education, project work and improvement activities.
Duties will include:
- Independently supervising treatment programs for patients, including individual treatments and classes under the direction of a physiotherapist.
- Assisting with treatment interventions during Physiotherapist-led sessions
- Assisting with the setup, monitoring and care of clinical equipment.
- Providing educational resources and assistive devices used for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Basic clerical duties, including resource ordering, maintenance requests and telehealth set up.
- Contributing to the provision of Allied Health Assistant student supervision
- Weekday and weekend service provision
**About you**
To be eligible for the Physiotherapy Assistant role, you will have:
- Attainment of a Certificate IV and/or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and effectively within the multi-professional team to provide quality services.
- Attributes that align with our Department Values including: Being solutions focused, displaying resilience but flexibility, and demonstrating a positive attitude in all encounters.
- Demonstrated initiative and the drive to provide the best support possible to the Physiotherapy team.
Desirable attributes include:
- Previous experience in a hospital environment as a Physiotherapy Assistant, particularly in an acute setting.
