The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health practitioners. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

As a member of the Research and Evaluation Team (RET), the Research Officer contributes to research and evaluation projects that support policy and decision making in the regulation of Australian health practitioners registered under the National Scheme. This role is part of a welcoming and highly engaged team committed to research excellence and building organisational capacity and capability to achieve strategic objectives. Working within the RET, the successful applicant will demonstrate strong research skills and work collaboratively with their peers whilst leading dedicated projects in alignment with the research priorities and principles as detailed in the Research Framework for the National Scheme.

**About you**

You have strong experience with either quantitative or qualitative research methods and principles. In addition to your technical expertise, you have the ability to support diverse research projects across the 16 regulated health professions to completion.

**_ There are two positions we are recruiting for, an ongoing and a fixed term maternity leave contract, both positions are full time available in our Melbourne office. _**

**In this role you will**:

- Interrogate administrative databases to identify and explore factors associated with risks to the public
- Manage research and evaluation projects with mínimal supervision, including study design, planning, time management, regular progress reporting, and delivery in line with agreed timelines
- Assist with data extraction, cleansing, quality assurance, and confidential release of data for research and analysis
- Conduct literature/scoping reviews/systematic reviews using research methods.
- Preparation of research ethics proposals, meeting papers, presentations reports, and publications as required
- Work productively with other team members and promote a positive team culture
- A tertiary qualification in public health, data science, or statistics, or a degree with a strong focus on research methods and data analysis, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Experience as either a quantitative or qualitative researcher preferably in a non academic setting
- The ability to build constructive and respectful relationships with stakeholders, including the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Excellent time management skills, able to work flexibly and adapt to project needs
- High level of professionalism and probity, preparedness to engage responsibly with risk, sound judgement, resilience, and a high level of self-awareness
- Can-do attitude with commitment to the task at hand, able to solve problems creatively, and dedicated to service excellence
