As Principal Project Officer you will be a member of a project team, with each member responsible for specific project deliverables.
You will provide expert advice on youth detention practices and operations, to inform, contribute to, and deliver on this strategic project.

**The Principal Project Officer key responsibilities are**:

- Contribute to the development of strategies and plans that contribute to the achievement of the project and to strategic business objectives.
- Manage complex and significant sub-projects and activities that contribute to the achievement of the project and strategic business objectives.
- Build professional working relationships so as to maximise ownership of the project and stakeholder confidence in the operating model for WYDC.
- Provide authoritative advice to senior management and staff on a range of operational issues relevant to the project.
- Represent Youth Justice at relevant forums, meetings and events and coordinate appropriate governance arrangements for project working groups as and when required.
- Provide input to the development and review of policies that support the establishment of a new youth detention centre and achievement of the departments' business objectives.
- Conduct appropriate research and prepare and analyse data so as to best inform project planning and policy activities and departmental progress on strategic objectives.
- Prepare submissions, reports, executive briefs and correspondence on a range of project-related issues.
- Provide effective guidance and support to senior consultant/s within the broader project team, including on matters of construction, infrastructure and design.
- Participate as part of a cohesive high performing team in which all members' contributions are valued and encouraged.
- Effectively use human and financial resources to optimise the performance of the team and deliver agreed outcomes.
