**About the Role**:
We have two permanent vacancies of 22.5 hours per week. There may be opportunty for the successful applicant to work up to 30 hours per week.

This position is a Consultant Physician role within Medicine, providing expertise and specialist clinical duties in Infectious Diseases.

As the Consultant Infectious Diseases, you will take part in inpatient and outpatient care, quality improvements, teaching and research in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology and related fields in Southern Adelaide.

The Consultant Infectious Diseases is expected to contribute to the undergraduate and post graduate teaching activities and are encouraged to develop research programs.

This role provides laboratory and clinical services in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, as well as teaching and undertaking research.

This position also assists in the provision of relevant services to Occupational Health and will play substantial role in Safety and quality standards like Infection Control and Antimicrobial stewardship. This position also provides Infectious Disease input in Multidisciplinary forums and meetings.

**About you**:

- You will have a demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Infectious Diseases.
- A demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, as well as
- A Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification in addition to a commitment to quality improvement.

**About Us**:
The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network includes the Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Health Services and the Repatriation Health Precinct. We also deliver Infectious Disease input to many rural hospitals of which Mount Gambier Hospital and South Coast Hospital Victor Harbour being the larger facilities. FMC is affiliated with and co-locates with Flinders University. Flinders Private Hospital is also conveniently located next door.

There is opportunity to teach medical students, ID trainees, basic physician trainees, nurses and other allied health trainees. We also have a very strong clinical/translational research program and connections with Flinders University, Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FIHMRI), South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), and SA Pathology.

All staff specialists participate in research and have conjoint academic appointments. The research team comprises of ID and microbiology clinicians, Clinical Nurse Manager, Pharmacists and an admin assistants. The FMC is co-located with Flinders Private Hospital providing opportunity to conduct private practice after hours.
