**The Role**
As an APS5 Financial Analyst within the Internal Budgeting and Reporting Team you will:

- Deliver internal budget support, including coordination of internal budget preparation, financial performance monitoring and reporting in accordance with Defence policies and procedures;
- Assist with the preparation and provision of provide advice on complex budgeting to stakeholders in Defence;
- Research and contribute to the development of Defence financial policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation and whole of government policies; and
- Evaluate and interrogate financial data to ensure the accuracy of financial information in reports and systems.

**About our Team**
The Internal Budgeting and Reporting Team (IBRT) sits within the Assistant Secretary (AS) Budgeting and Reporting Branch. The AS Budgeting and Reporting Branch sits within the Budget and Financial Services Division and supports Defence through provision of budget management and process on behalf of the Defence Portfolio in accordance with the overarching Commonwealth budget process and reporting requirements.

IBRT produce monthly finance reports to the Enterprise Business Committee (EBC), Defence People Committee (DPC) and Defence Finance and Resourcing Committee (DFRC). IBRT is also responsible for internal budgeting and forecasting policy, along with a number of products to support better practice budgeting and reporting in Defence.

IBRT have a crucial role from within the centre of the Defence Finance Group (DFG) to facilitate DFG’s monthly budget and reporting activities. As a central team, IBRT liaise with the Financial Performance and Management (FPM) Division and stakeholders within the Groups and Services regularly to ensure the quality of Defence internal budgeting, and complete analysis of Defences financial performance.

- Financial and budgeting knowledge and ability to undertake objective and systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions based on evidence.
