**About the team**:
The Communications Branch comprises media and speechwriting, strategic external communications, digital engagement, branding, visual design and internal communications. The branch is full service supporting the department and ministerial offices.
The Branding, Visual Design and Internal Communications section has responsibility for a wide range of services, including:
- managing the department's brands and the development of any new brands
- delivering design and audio visual projects for the department and ministers
- supporting internal events.
The Branding, Visual Design and Internal Communications section is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Graphic Design Team Leader (EL1). We are looking for someone who has relevant graphic design skills, as well as someone who has experience managing a small team.
You will have excellent attention to detail, good project management skills and the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- 10+ years design experience
- Tertiary qualifications in graphic design or related discipline
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Sound knowledge of WCAG2.1 accessibility requirements
- Digital design experience including EDM design
- Social media design and marketing campaigns
- End to end expertise in print and digital design
- A proven track record with design leadership, briefing and project management
**What you will do**:
In this role, you will:
- Deliver effective graphic design outcomes, including assigning tasks and monitoring of team progress.
- Manage workflow to ensure all projects are produced to deadlines and budget.
- Develop and manage a range of stakeholder relationships. Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and facilitate cooperation.
- Mentor and build capability in a team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.
- Assist the section manager with administrative tasks and determine strategic direction for the work area and align longer-term planning with agency goals and objectives
- Ensure digital products and outputs align with the strategic objectives of the department and the departmental branding policy.
- Manage departmental brand, sub-brands and brand positioning.
- Enforce departmental values and APS code of conduct.
