Head Teacher Technological and Applied Studies

**Position Information**:
The Ponds High School, located in the suburb of The Ponds in the north-west of Sydney is a 7-12 comprehensive high school that has well over 2000 students in Years 7-12. 53% of these students come from a non-English speaking background and 0.4 % identify as ATSI. The school shares a site with Riverbank Public school and is a part of an innovative and energetic community approach to teaching and learning. The school has developed outstanding teaching and learning programs including; a strong well-being approach using Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, a culturally inclusive program and support for the creative and performing arts. The school has two support classes, a HP&GE class in each year and has an active BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program using the learning platform Canvas. The Stage 5 and 6 elective structure provides extensive choice for students. Current whole school learning and teaching priorities include; using CANVAS for effective learning and a Teams structure to support SIP priorities. The Technology and Applied Studies KLA has TWO head teachers who share the administrative tasks, resources management and HR management responsibilities both at KLA level and some whole school level responsibilities.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to lead, monitor and evaluate innovative, evidence-based programs to improve student engagement and achievement across the school.
- A demonstrated commitment to ethically lead using technology and technology initiatives for: administrative requirements, student growth and engagement and to develop and engage staff.
- Ability to co-lead and develop a highly effective and broad team that enhances opportunities for student success and caters for a diverse range of student learning needs.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
