**About the opportunity**

Are you a natural-born leader with excellent interpersonal skills and experience in the management of library collections?

We offering an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a Librarian (Resource Access team) to deliver high-quality physical and digital collection development services.

Leading a small team of staff, you will be responsible for profiling, maintaining, weeding and promoting library collections for all 5 branches. The role also includes customer services, readers advisory, and assistance with technology platforms.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Eligible for professional membership of ALIA
- Relevant library experience
- Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer-focused service
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proven excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience and/or demonstrated ability to lead a team and work within a team environment and independently
- Relevant computer skills, including experience in the use of electronic and online resources
- Availability to work flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends as rostered
- Demonstrated understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse client groups.

**Desirable**:

- Current Class C Driver’s licence
- Experience in budget and/or contract management
- Experience in developing profiles for Library vendors

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,396.62 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
