Join a company that is passionately committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change. With more than 65 years of business and technical expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure, our 10,000 colleagues in 150 countries tirelessly work toward bettering the industries in which we operate. With practical solutions that are safe, innovative and sustainable, we think globally while acting locally. Are you looking for an opportunity to join a diverse group of professionals who are committed to remaining exceptional? We look forward to hearing from you.
A successful project needs to do more than deliver on its intended purpose. It needs to address the needs of its residents and provide real, tangible benefits for the surrounding community. It must wholeheartedly embrace the mantra of leaving it better than we found it, ensuring a brighter future for the lives it affects.
Inclusion and collaboration with local communities is the key to successful project delivery. In a practice that is growing, you will be part of Hatch’s Environment and Sustainability Practice interfacing with our global Community Engagement and Social Performance (CESP) team. The Practice collaborates with clients, communities, stakeholders, and Hatch’s engineering teams to create mutually beneficial and sustainable infrastructure, metals, and energy projects. The opportunity is unique: Hatch’s wealth of technical engineering experience combined with community insights creates an inclusive vision for clients’ projects - and we are helping to make this a reality.
The role of Principal Social Impact Advisor will oversee the social impact work that we undertake with clients across Australia and Asia to enable them to understand, assess, mitigate and to proactively address social impacts. The position will build and maintain client relationships, proactively pursue business opportunities, and lead the development and delivery of client projects.
In this role, you will:
- Design and oversee baseline social data collection to support impact assessments related to human rights, re-settlement, community and worker health and security, social, land use, labour, gender, vulnerable groups, Indigenous rights and interests.
- Design and deliver community and stakeholder engagement activities such as workshops, focus groups, interviews, and surveys to gather quantitative and qualitative data to support impact assessment processes.
- Lead and prepare Social Impact Assessment chapters, management and monitoring plans, engagement plans, consultation reports and proposals.
- Provide social impact assessment technical expertise and manage multi-disciplinary project teams throughout the life cycle of client projects.
- Work with Hatch project managers and team members to build the Social Impact Assessment service offering and to grow the business.
- Undertake project management tasks on behalf of clients. Share your experiences with colleagues and clients at speaking events, networking events, conferences, webinars and through online blog posts.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Degree qualified in Social Sciences, Humanities, Human Geography, Planning, or related social discipline; advanced degree required.
- Hold a professionally recognised Social Impact accreditation.
- Minimum of 15 years’ leading Social Impact Assessments for major projects with demonstrated experience in meeting Australian regulatory and international safeguard requirements related to social impact assessment, public participation, and Indigenous consultation.

- Collaborator and team player with experience working horizontally and vertically across disciplines and project teams.
- Willingness for both domestic and international travel as work requires.
- Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables.
- A willingness to proactively meet clients’ needs whether big or small.
