**MEDIA DIVISION**

First Tier Media recognises the central role media plays in influencing public, philanthropic, and political opinion. Our focus is very much on newsrooms and the hefty end of the news-cycle, but we also work with experienced and like-minded partners in the world of advertising, social, digital, and fundraising to deliver smart and affordable messages and campaigns that work.

The PR Account Manager will work closely with the PR Director to manage a portfolio of clients. The key aim of the position is to generate, write, and pitch strong stories to traditional media and to manage relationships with clients week-to-week. The Account Manager will initially work alongside the PR Director who will also be client-facing but will be expected to manage accounts independently. Reporting to the PR Director, this position will also provide assistance when required with other media and communications activities for First Tier Media. The successful applicant may have the opportunity to learn other skills and work in other areas of the business, such as campaigning, lobbying, and fundraising.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Media and communications**
- Work with PR Director to generate client stories, write media releases, establish key messages, package a story, and pitch to traditional and trade media.
- Work with the PR Director to build and refine media lists relevant to the client, its sector, and individual stories.
- Coordinate media opportunities between the client and media outlets and record media coverage in client folders.
- Post media coverage of clients on First Tier Media’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
- Collaborate with the PR Director to prioritise work, evaluate media impact and strategies, and workshop solutions with colleagues.

**Relationship management**
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients through dedicated weekly WiPs and ongoing communication through the week.
- Support First Tier Media’s leadership to manage media and occasionally campaigning or fundraising work where required.
- Liaise regularly in WiPs and comms channels with other First Tier Media staff and its leadership team to iterate stories and resolve problems you may encounter.

**Vision and leadership**
- Provide support to the Senior Media Advisor by contributing to effective administrative processes to ensure an efficient and high functioning media team.
- Demonstrate collaboration and sharing of best practice among the team to achieve high performance.

**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**

**Essential Criteria Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**
- A tertiary degree in communications, public relations or other relevant discipline or experience.
- Experience in writing and pitching stories.
- Resourceful, adaptable, and creative approach to generating stories.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information, simply and clearly to a range of audiences.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships as well as negotiate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
- Proven organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

**Desirable Criteria**
- A good knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, what’s happening in the news cycle.
- Interest in social justice and current affairs.

**Salary**: $64,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
