About the Role

SSI is delivering the Asylum Seeker Employment Skills Support Program (ASESS) on behalf of the NSW Government providing employment support services to address the challenges experienced by refugees and asylum seekers in finding long term employment opportunities. ASESS is being delivered across Southern & South Western Sydney in NSW.
The ASESS Trainer is responsible for a caseload of participants who have registered directly or been referred onto the ASESS program and will engage and work directly with participants to provide individualised employment pathway plans and ongoing employment support activities to assist in the goal of attaining long term and sustainable employment and/or training or educational opportunities. This will be achieved through individualised support, job focused activities, individual and group training and support, and customised interventions. relationships.

**Key Responsibilities not limited to**:

- Delivering regular client work ready development sessions and activities in accordance with RESP’s policy and procedures
- Assessing client’s work ready development session outcomes in collaboration with team leaders and managers
- Liaising with employment teams to engage clients into relevant sessions
- Maintaining and updating job seeker records via online systems, and review and update job seeker records on a regular basis
- Contributing to planning of service provision and continuous improvement processes

Other duties as directed from time to time within your skills range and capacity.

Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV in Employment Services, Career Development, Community Services, or other similar qualification, desirable or be willing to work towards.
- Case management and experience interacting with various stakeholders
- Knowledge and understanding of refugee settlement process
- Proven experience in mentoring and career counselling
- Excellent communication skills and relationships building skills.
- The ability to show empathy to job seekers.
- Proven business development, sales or marketing ability including excellent communication skills, high level negotiation skills, and persuasive ability.
- Strong ethics, accountability, and integrity.
- Previous experience working in the Employment Services, Community Services or complementary sector/s and an understanding of working with refugees, or in long term employment is DESIRABLE
