Melbourne, Australia Xplor Full time

Company Description

Take a seat on the Xplor rocketship and join us as **Product Designer **in Melbourne to help people succeed across the world.

We’re a global team of builders, listeners and problem-solvers who are relentlessly focused on making life simple, so our customers can get back to growing their business, engaging consumers and doing what they love.

**Job Description**:
**About the opportunity**

You’ll join our Product Design team in our Childcare & Education vertical - the team that provides the support and expertise educators need to manage their centres smoothly, improve parent engagement, and deliver the best educational experience so that they can focus on what really matters - helping children succeed.

Our mission in the Product Design team at Xplor Education is to empower our team members to think deeply and solve problems in ways that prioritise customer experience while delivering business value. We solve problems that combine experience, behaviour, compliance, ethics, pedagogy, policy, business, and technology. You will encounter problems that are based on very well-defined user experience patterns, and problems that require an open mind and a creative touch.

This role is perfect for someone who is comfortable working end-to-end on the product development lifecycle, especially UI and has a few years of experience working as a product designer. You will be keen to work on opportunity spaces that range from big hairy undefined problems, all the way down to small experiments. Measuring the impact of your design decisions along the way.

For this position, we offer a hybrid and flexible working model, where you’ll spend three days a week working from home and two working from the office which is located in the Melbourne CBD.

**Your responsibilities**
- Own and facilitate customer and stakeholder research while coaching your teams on user experience research best practices. You will have access to a wide range of customers which you will use to gather qualitative and quantitative data, conduct ethnographic research, facilitate workshops and rapidly validate your design decisions and assumptions.
- Use this data and research to create functional prototypes and high-fidelity designs which can be tested, and once validated, effectively communicated to engineering teams.
- Work seamlessly within cross-function teams to ensure value is delivered to customers and business stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Maintain and uplift design systems for existing products.

**Qualifications**:

- Extensive **UI** Experience as well as **1+ **years working as a **Product Designer** or **3+** years working in a specialised field such as **UX, UI, Research or similar** with a Portfolio demonstrating your end-to-end knowledge of product design and development.
- A deep understanding of human-centred design and a thirst for understanding all aspects of product and development practices.
- An ability to be comfortably autonomous. As we are a small team we come together frequently to support each other and provide feedback while spending the majority of our time working as solo designers alongside a Product Manager, Engineers, QA and Customer and Business Stakeholders in cross-functional teams.
- A tangible ability to articulate your design thinking through sketching, illustration, diagramming flows, visualising user decision-making processes or any other tools which allow you to capture ideas on the fly or share your thinking
- Proficiency in using Miro & Figma to create UX artifacts, functional prototypes, high-fidelity designs and design systems.
- An existing, or the ability to obtain, a working with children's check. It is an expectation that you will visit childcare centres to perform research; interact with admin and educator and actively participate within the education sector.

At Xplor, we believe that the best innovation and ideas happen at the intersection of differences - people of different cultures, generations, disciplines, and lived experiences. So even if you think you don’t quite tick all the boxes, we still encourage you to apply.
