- Demonstrated experience in an Apple environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and to take on emerging duties as the College develops.
- Demonstrate some understand or experience in working with school-based science laboratories and preparation spaces as well as the setup and supported needed for science classrooms to run experiments integral to teaching science curriculum.

**Responsibilities**:

- The role of the Science Laboratory Assistant is to support the Science Laboratory Technician to perform those tasks necessary for the teaching staff to implement the practical science component of the curriculum. In order to achieve this, the Laboratory Assistant will work under the supervision of the Head of Science._
- The Laboratory Assistant will provide direct support to teachers in the preparation, delivery and pack up of Science experiments._
- To assist with the preparation and delivery of equipment and materials for the Science Learning Area, maintaining control of equipment and the laboratories in order to support the Science curriculum throughout the College in line with The Victorian Curriculum and VCAA study designs._
- Performs technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options._

**_ The Laboratory Assistant is responsible to the Principal through the Science Domain Leader._**

**_ Primary Responsibilities_**
- The Laboratory Assistant will have the following role and responsibilities:_
- _ Preparation of practical exercises (pracs) as requested by staff and assisting the Laboratory Technician:_
- _Preparation of accurate chemical solutions_
- _Ensuring that all required equipment is present at the start of practical session._
- _Locating chemicals and equipment as required_
- _On request, assisting with demonstrations and pracs._
- _On request, photocopying material for staff._
- _Assisting with the clean-up at the end of practical sessions._
- Assist with Maintenance of the Chemical Store:_
- _Maintaining and updating the records of chemicals held in the store._
- _Ensuring legal, safe, effective and efficient storage of chemicals._
- _Maintaining an adequate supply of ¿stock¿ solutions._
- _Replenishing the chemical supply as needed._
- Maintenance of Science Resource Material:_
- _Developing and/or maintaining displays of students¿ work in the science labs._
- _Locating and issuing of resource material to staff._
- _Ensuring each Science Lab has adequate and locatable supplies of standard equipment eg. Bunsens, Heat Mats._
- _Other duties as negotiated with the Principal_
