We foster the future of general practice through our profession-led, community-based training model for the Australian General Practice Training Program and other training pathways. We train GPs to deliver quality, whole-person care to patients across Australia, support their ongoing professional development and provide a point of connection for GPs serving communities in every corner of the country.
About you
As our Communications Manager, you will call upon your previous experience of marketing, communications and brand management to lead a team in the effective communication of GP Training and member communications. Utilising your highly developed skills to proactively develop strategic communications to a wide audience is integral to this position. Strong experience in building stakeholder relationships internally and externally within a member-based organisation is highly desired.
**To thrive in this role you’ll have**:
experience and understanding of GP Training (Australian General Practice Training program)
a degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations (or equivalent)
staff management experience
thorough understanding of marketing, communication and brand management principles
a high degree of understanding of the communication planning/ creative development process
demonstrated ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
excellent organisational and planning skills, with experience taking initiative and delivering multiple activities simultaneously
the ability to manage competing demands, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Member & External Communications, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of engagement and communication strategies, with a strong focus on GP training. You will lead and manage the communications team to develop an overarching communication strategy for GP Training in alignment with the RACGP operating plan. You will Oversee and co-ordinate development of all communications for GP Training including but not limited to key messages, presentations, reports case studies, eDMs, newsletters, organisational updates, calendars of events, staff and team profiles, web copy, plans and briefings.
**In addition you’ll**:
establish and maintain relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management that engages stakeholders and ensures project deliverables are met
work closely with members of the senior leadership team to create and disseminate news, stories and key messages and improve internal communication across all levels of staff. This includes management of the GP Training intranet presence
Undertake research in order to formulate responses, reports and presentations
ensure the RACGP Board and key staff have the necessary tools to influence and engage with their communities of interest
maintain an awareness of the schedule of stakeholder events attended by Board members and other key staff, ensuring they are provided with the necessary materials and collateral which will often be tailored to that event.
