**The Role**
As the Program Support Officer (PSO) working in the Business Management Team (BMT), you’ll be instrumental in supporting Defence’s Air Battlespace Management (ABM) Capability by ensuring upgrades to Defence’s complex and technologically advanced ABM go smoothly, within cost, and on time.

Primarily, you’ll manage and co-ordinate the individual tasks and activities behind a large-scale Defence upgrade program. You will speak directly with Defence industry partners responsible for upgrading individual systems; determine what is on track (and what is not), then communicate this back to your Business Management Team. Together, you and your eager and motivated teammates will work to resolve issues and bring the capability to fruition.

**About our Team**
Your BMT is made up of Commonwealth representatives and industry partners, committed to ensuring Defence has a current and credible capability. The broader ABM team, consists of fellow Australian Public Service (APS) and military personnel eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Aside from the usual business support functions, the BMT is primarily engaged in the extremely crucial scheduling of capability delivery, configuration management, task management, and risk management activities. The BMT is ultimately responsible for the coordination, planning and management of the ABM Enterprise, to ensure successful ABM System delivery to Defence.

The team is located in the premier tourist destination in Australia; the Hunter region. With idyllic surf beaches in Port Stephens and Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter wine region, hiking trails, and the Barrington Tops are all within an hour of the Base.

Formal qualifications in engineering, project management, or similar disciplines would make you stand out, but so long as you as you can demonstrate the ability to plan competing tasks and communicate to your team than you’re a worthy applicant. Having a technical background would be ideal, but are not essential. Previous Defence experience, especially within CASG or Defence industry would be beneficial.
