Science - delivering a nationally-coherent program of ecological surveys with a focus on monitoring key conservation assets and threats, conducting applied research relevant to wildlife conservation, implementing conservation programs including reintroductions, and providing advice on land management.
Fundraising - mobilising finance (primarily, tax deductible donations) from the general public and philanthropists including through effective communication of AWC conservation programs.

**About the Role**:
As a member of the Development Team, the Development Manager, Fundraising Programs plays an important role in driving new donor acquisition, retention and fundraising growth for AWC to increase our supporter base and fundraising income. This role will work closely with the National Manager, Fundraising Programs to develop strategies for the acquisition, retention and growth of key donor segments, primarily for regular giving and mid-value donors. This role will also be involved in the implementation of national fundraising campaigns and appeals.
Accountabilities will also include collaborating closely with cross-department to deliver marketing automation; contribute to the design of growth strategies; regular reporting; involvement with annual planning and the budgeting process.This is a significant role within the Development team and requires a collaborative approach across all business areas to engage audiences in our fundraising objectives, converting new audiences to donors and deepening engagement of existing supporters.
Working with the National Manager, Fundraising Programs, this role will oversee a small team of telefundraisers, working with external consultation and be responsible for:
Implementation of donor acquisition, retention and growth strategies for regular giving and mid-tier segments.
Development of digital, mail and phone lead-generation, in conjunction with National Manager, Fundraising Programs to optimise online web-based donor acquisition to attract supporters and generate upgrades.
Managing a mid-level giving program, implementing strategic pathways between mid-value giving and major gifts.
Assist with community fundraising programs.
Contribute to the development of the appeals campaigns.
Implementation of stewardship processes for mass-donor segments, including via the AWC monthly e-newsletter to ensure tailored messaging for each donor segment to align with donor journeys.
Supporting the acquisition and conversion of donors to consider leaving a gift in their Will to AWC.
Timely, consistent and effective reporting to ongoing monthly targets and appeal/campaign goals, to ensure AWC deploys its fundraising resources to maximise ROI.
**Critical Competencies**:
A passionate interest in the conservation of Australia’s wildlife and habitats.
Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated experience in a multi-channel fundraising role, covering the areas of:
Fundraising acquisition and retention
Digital donor acquisition
Fundraising campaigns and appeals via multiple channels (EDM, mail, telephone) across multiple donor segments
Regular giving
Mass donor stewardship programs
Management skills, including the ability (or willingness) to manage individuals working remotely (ie. in other cities/states).
Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience of CRM-based client relationship management and the interaction of fundraising programs with an organisation’s data management system, including:
Understanding of different techniques and processes required to manage different donor segments using a CRM (AWC uses Raiser’s Edge, a Blackbaud product).
