We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for a dynamic Media Relations Officer, who has a keen interest in the media and shares the values of The Salvation Army.

As a member of the broader Communications Portfolio, this role will support the National Media Relations team to execute its key function of showcasing the extraordinary work of The Salvation Army nationally, responding to internal and external requests for media responses, and building strong relationships with the media, ambassadors and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

- Assist with the daily operations of the Media office, including monitoring the media inbox and triaging media inquiries
- Support key fundraising and social mission campaigns through direct media engagement, written briefs and media releases, stakeholder management and other key functions
- Source stories from The Salvation Army’s frontline social mission work

To be successful, you will have:

- Minimum three years working in media and/or communications (preferred)
- Degree in journalism, media or related fields (preferred)
- A keen interest in the media and awareness of the traditional and new media landscape
- Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Australians in need
