**The Role**
Workplace Exploitation Branch has several positions available for varying lengths of time. Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the development of a range of complex policy reform to combat worker exploitation, including through enhancing the Fair Work Act compliance and enforcement framework. This will include developing new policy proposals, developing and introducing legislation, and briefing to support the Government’s workplace relations agenda. You will also engage closely with key stakeholders such as the Fair Work Commission, the Fair Work Ombudsman, Attorney-General’s Department, Home Affairs, the federal courts, employer groups, unions, civil society and academia. The Branch brings a human rights and access to justice lens to bear on the challenges faced by the most vulnerable workers in the community, including how to prevent, detect and remediate exploitative conduct, and addressing the barriers to workers seeking help.

**Skills and Capabilities**

Desired skills include:

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to contribute to policy development
- Demonstrated policy experience, and the ability to understand complex problems and develop policy solutions
- Highly motivated with demonstrated strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to clearly explain complex concepts, ideas and arguments to a range of audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills, including good judgement and resilience, and
- An understanding of the workplace relations system, or an ability to quickly acquire this.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 6 months.
