**Job description**:
**The Roles**
This Government agency works with people with disability, providers and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive and effective regulation of service providers.
The Reportable Incidents and Compliance Officers will be part of a dedicated team that monitors the response of registered providers to adequately manage any immediate risk to a person’s safety and wellbeing, undertake assessment and investigation of the incident and follow up appropriately.
The
**APS5 Reportable Incident Handling**
**Officers** will:
- Assist with the management of a caseload of incidents, liaising regularly with managers as to the management of caseload
- Support the development of advice to the Assistant Director and State Director about trends, issues, individuals of concern and inadequate investigations by service providers
- Manage and resolve a caseload of complaints about the provision of supports and services by providers, including assessing moderately complex complaints and contributing to complaints handling activities, including conciliations
- Support the education and training function for providers in identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse, and neglect of people with disability and information about the reportable incidents handling function; and
- Develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders to facilitate the work of the reportable incidents handling function
The
**APS6 Reportable Incident Handling**
**Officers** will:
- Guide and mentor staff around the implementation, assessment and monitoring of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence, consistent with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and Rules
- Manage a caseload of reportable incidents in connection with the provision of supports and services by Registered NDIS providers, including the assessment of complex incidents (including deaths of people with disability) and escalating incidents for investigation or other action where necessary
- Provide advice on trends and issues through the oversight and review of reportable incidents received
- Guide and mentor officers to ensure assessments of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence are completed to a quality standard within agreed timeframes
- Provide education and training to providers in relation to identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse and neglect of people with disability, through the provision of information about our client’s functions
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with a large and diverse range of external stakeholders, including state and territory counterparts, service providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the work of the function, and our client more broadly
- Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports, briefings and submissions
- Lead a learning culture where expertise can be developed and appropriately shared
- Support capability in a team environment through coaching others, effective performance management and encouraging career development
The
** APS5 Regulatory Compliance Officers **will:
**Responsibilities**
- Work with individual NDIS providers to assist them in understanding their obligations, and where non-compliance may have occurred, guide them to address those issues and risks
- Undertake enquiries, monitoring and analysis to develop compliance responses
- Monitor incoming incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants to ensure high-risk or complex incidents are escalated and dealt with expeditiously
- Identify trends, issues, individuals of concern and inadequate investigations by service providers, through the assessment and analysis of information gathered during the management of incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants
- Actively contribute to, and participate in, compliance promotion and education campaigns to inform and educate NDIS providers, participants and the public about our client’s functions and the requirements of relevant legislation and rules
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with a large and diverse range of external stakeholders, including state and territory counterparts, service providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the work of the compliance, reportable incidents and investigations functions, and our client more
- Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports, briefings and submissions to support compliance action
- Contribute and actively participate in an environment to encourage a learning culture where expertise can be appropriately shared
- Have an understanding of vicarious trauma which may occur through conversations with providers and participants and/or when reading documentation where distressing information may be disclosed
