El1 Assistant Director Protective Security

The Assistant Director (AD) Protective Security is a leadership role, responsible for coordinating and completing security work that is very complex and sensitive in nature. This position is expected to operate under broad direction with a considerable degree of independence, thoroughness and discretion.
**Duties**
- Lead the planning and delivery of key protective security functions; including the development, implementation and testing of personnel security, physical security and information security controls across the department.
- Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of integrated security policy and governance artefacts; including relevance, accuracy and accessibility.
- Support the timely and accurate implementation of remedial, enhancement, quality assurance and compliance activities through the development and adoption of forward work and assurance programs; including PSPF reporting and support for audit and compliance activities.
- Ensure the timely and effective development and delivery of protective security awareness, training and communication programs and materials, using forward work plans informed by analysis of incidences and vulnerabilities.
- Oversee the security aspects related to planning, design and delivery of the international and domestic commemorative events, and deploy internationally to provide operational support where required.
- Oversee projects of a technical and specialised nature, including site and event protective security, infrastructure, design and construction.
- Respond to complex security incidents, including threats to harm people, property and assets, and recommend and implement security controls to lessen threat of harm, damage or loss.
- Represent DVA at internal and external security committees and forums.
- Undertake and manage complex investigations into suspected breaches of security.
