The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA)
- Permanent full time or part-time (0.8-0.9) position, starting in March 2023
- $102,450 (pro rata) excluding superannuation
- Located in Melbourne (virtual/hybrid work arrangements will be considered)

**About the role**
- Young people deserve a much bigger voice in our mainstream media, and you’ll help them get it. You’ll run FYA’s Youth Media Centre, elevating the voices of young people to share their lived expertise on the issues that matter to them.
- You will back youth-led campaigns to develop media strategies and key messages, and train and coach young people for media opportunities, including daily pitching to journalists and producers.
- We’re looking for a media expert with a passion for young people driving change on their own terms, drawing attention to lived experience of injustice, and hands-on experience using the media as a tool for change as part of multi-tactic campaigns.

**About you**
- Experience developing media strategies and key messages that have led to systemic change for impacted communities.
- Experience coaching, motivating and supporting media spokespeople from diverse backgrounds to respond quickly and make the most out of media opportunities which progress their campaign goals.
- Skills in pitching and placing media stories with mainstream media on tight deadlines.
- Relationships and experience campaigning with youth-led groups, and with mainstream media outlets and journalists.
- Lived expertise of economic justice, racial justice, trans & gender diverse liberation or First Nations justice.
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration, balancing competing priorities, and prioritising wellbeing.
