What you will do

**As our Workplace Health and Safety Officer you will**:

- Provide authoritative and impartial advice and support to workers about health and safety matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards and to promote a safety culture within NRIFAEP.
- Provide high quality advice, services and support to management and workers on injury management, worker's compensation, rehabilitation and return to work policies and processes after a work or non-work-related injury or illness.
- Assist in the development and implementation of local strategies, systems, and procedures in support of departmental health and safety policies, initiatives, and governance arrangements.
- Promote and facilitate the establishment and implementation of appropriate consultative arrangements with management, workers, and other stakeholders to effectively identify and manage health and safety risks.
- Provide advice and support to establish, implement and maintain a robust risk management process within NRIFAEP to eliminate or minimise health and safety risks.
- Provide advice on and monitor incident reporting systems and tools to ensure proactive management and reporting of WHS and rehabilitation issues and appropriate review and improvement processes.
- Promote, support, and provide advice on departmental services and activities to support workers' health and wellness, such as the Employee Assistance Program and the Health and Wellness Program.
- Prepare, reports and other related correspondence and documentation in relation to health and safety matters as required.
- Undertaking internal programmed and scheduled Workplace Health and Safety inspections/audits on projects or operational activities and identify non-conformances and developing action to meet compliance.
- Establish and manage strong working relationships and networks both within the organisation and within our public sector agencies

What you will bring
Essential requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.

You may also have
- While not mandatory, a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher qualification would be well regarded.
- Experience in rehabilitation and return to work and/or injury management and prevention processes and practices.
