The role
The primary focus of the role is to provide strategic, tactical and operational work health, safety, and wellbeing direction, advice and delivery for the department. This role reports to the Director Human Resources, and is responsible to lead the Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing team within Human Resources
Key responsibilities
- Leading the development, implementation and delivery of EPW Healthy and Safe Workforce Plan, and subsequent initiatives, projects and risk management to drive safety leadership and cultural change, ensuring improved performance.
- Manage the HR Stream for the implementation and delivery of the EPW Safety System replacement including strategic change and communication planning, stakeholder engagement, ensuring technical and legislative compliance.
- Managing contemporary multidisciplinary consultancy services and providing strategic, tactical and operational advice in the areas of work health, safety and wellbeing encompassing safe work practices, injury prevention, rehabilitation, complex case management and early intervention programs.
- Implement and manage contemporary workplace health and safety governance arrangements and a performance framework that provides strategic analysis and reporting on injuries, WorkCover, relevant human resources data, accreditation and audit processes that sets a benchmark for excellence in safety.
- Developing and implementing Human Resources and WHS policies and procedures to support effective WHS practices, including initiatives to assist business areas to mitigate WHS risks and ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide high level analysis and specialist advice to senior executives and leaders to inform best practice approaches for managing employee health conditions, complex claims, early intervention rehabilitation practices and goal-focused return to work programs.
- Lead the implementation and delivery of Managing the risk of psychosocial hazards code of practice which establishes, embeds and maintains a system that positions EPW as a leader in building mentally healthy workplaces.
- Foster a positive team culture and build the capability of the HR WHS Team whilst strengthening client relationships including the regional health and safety advisory network that delivers on all organisational objectives and requirements across the state.
- Work collaboratively with the broader Human Resources team to develop, maintain and foster effective working relationships to drive business outcomes and deliver cohesive client service.
