The Role
The Manager, Aboriginal Business is based within the Aboriginal Economic Development Branch to strengthen and support the growth of the Aboriginal businesses sector throughout the state by leading the strategic implementation of the business pillars under the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy (YYS). The Manager is responsible for collaborating across DJSIR, portfolios, government and engaging with commercial stakeholders, business associations, professional service providers, contracts and other business contacts and stakeholders to strategically connect projects and initiatives that support Aboriginal Victorians business sector. The Manager will lead in grant programs and associated policies and have excellent knowledge of financial management and procurement processes within a government setting.
About You
Lead and manage the delivery and review of initiatives under the YYS and relevant procurement strategies and ensure services and milestones are on track to meet the expectations of government and the Aboriginal business community.
Manage and lead a high performing team by modelling public sector values and behaviours integral to good people management, supporting individuals to achieve their potential and, as relevant, manage specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans.
Provide authoritative policy advice based on robust research and delivery of key policy projects to support Aboriginal business development outcomes.
Collaborate across DJSIR, government and other stakeholders to strategically connect projects and initiatives that support Aboriginal Victorians' employment and economic development in accordance with the Victorian Governments self-determination framework and the YYS.
Engage with commercial stakeholders, business associations, professional service providers, contractors, and other business contacts to deliver services and event-based projects through the project management lifecycle including tendering, contract management, risk and issue management, managing delivery, performance and financial milestones, budget, reporting and evaluation.
Using the department's business support processes and contract management systems, research, analyse, prepare and provide strategic advice, high quality submissions, reports, briefing papers and correspondence to management and Ministers on various matters including sensitive issues.
Actively drive a continuous improvement approach to program management, finance processes and systems across the branch to achieve high quality outcomes.
Drive the branch coordination and milestone management of outward facing Grants and funding programs.
