We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

The role

Reporting to the Manager Engineering Services, we are seeking an experienced traffic engineer who can bring their skills and experience to lead and manage the Traffic and Transport section to:

- Provide expert, specialist and influential traffic engineering advice.
- Lead and prepare policy in the development of Council’s Traffic and Transport section including infrastructure and assets.
- Plan, coordinate, periodically review and ensure all Traffic and Transport works being constructed by or for Council are delivered on time, on budget, in accordance with Council policies and meet the requirements and public expectations of Council, users or other clients.

To be considered you will have:

- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Extensive experience and sound knowledge of the traffic and transport engineering field.
- Ability to manage and lead the Traffic and Transport team to achieve Council’s objectives and goals.
- A thorough knowledge and high level understanding of Guidelines, Standards, and Acts relating to traffic management.
- Demonstrated and proven record in advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and periodically review the activities of the Traffic and Transport Section.
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated computer skills.
- Extensive knowledge of municipal procedures and operations of Local Government particularly procedures relating to engineering, statutory planning and local laws.
- Post graduate qualification in traffic and/or transport engineering or management is desirable.
