Sydney, Australia Google Full time

At Google, we have a vision of empowerment and equitable opportunity for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit to building reconciliation through Google’s technology, platforms and people and we welcome Indigenous applicants. Please see our Reconciliation Action Plan for more information.

**Minimum qualifications**:

- 6 years of experience with program management in the networking area.
- Experience with vendor management and delivering infrastructure assets.
- Experience with fiber optic systems and submarine cable ecosystem.
- Experience with APAC and global carrier networks.

**Preferred qualifications**:

- Ability to adopt a data-driven, analytical approach towards solving complex challenges.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and identify opportunities for optimization, with excellent analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to collaborate with a diverse range of people and job functions.

**About the job**:
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

The Global Network Acquisition team is responsible for the planning, design, and acquisition of all aspects of Google's production networks, including fiber, space, power, submarine capacity/cables, and related infrastructure in Asia.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with internal business and cross-functional networking technical teams to identify and define tactical and strategic initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing needs for both expansion and cost reduction across Asia.
- Present network plans for approval by all internal stakeholders, ranging from short-term metro augments to long-term, region-wide strategies for Google Asia network development.
- Manage the approved network plan with internal contributors (e.g., network negotiators or vendor delivery managers) until handover to the deployment team is complete.
- Communicate progress internally and collaborate with network deployment and other technical teams.
- Help with execution of pre-negotiated orders and business agreements with vendors, and attend industry conferences such as Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) and International Telecoms Week (ITW).
