**Role Details**:
The Lead Sparkling Winemaker holds a key role for the premium sparkling wine portfolio, with overall responsibility for quality, operations budgeting, safety, environmental and public relations as required.

The role has key touchpoints within group winemaking, marketing, finance, SEQ and sales teams across Australia and therefore a collaborative, constructive, inclusive mentality is critical to the success of this pivotal role.

**Your Key Accountabilities**:

- Spearhead day-to-day sparkling winemaking operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and directives.
- Champion and actively facilitate the career development of the winemaking team, providing guidance and opportunities for professional growth.
- Play a pivotal role in vineyard and grape varietal maturity assessments, contributing to the overall decision-making process.
- Offer support to both the Viticulture and cellar teams in coordinating the vintage harvest program, fostering seamless collaboration.
- Collaborate with the Senior Sparkling Winemaker to manage bulk wine blends, meticulously aligning them with the target cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Exercise vigilant oversight of wine blending, additions, filtrations, bulk tanker operations, and general cellar functions to prevent any spoilage or downgrades in wine quality while minimising product loss.
- Maintain comprehensive winemaking records and information within the bulk wine system, meticulously minimising stock holding variances across each year.
- Ensure the punctual fulfillment of all wine bottling and wine release date deadlines, meticulously adhering to the established bottling program.
- Develop and present a structured weekly and monthly work plan, effectively leading and delegating work instructions to the cellar and laboratory teams, guaranteeing the safe and precise execution of all tasks in accordance with specifications.
- Foster an environment of efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices, driving a culture of continuous improvement across all production activities, including the coordination of new product development (NPD), trials, and research and development (R&D) projects for the respective departments.
- Manage a team of direct reports with a focus on providing strong leadership, coaching, and individual development, all in alignment with our annual performance cycle, to ensure the consistent delivery of superior wine quality.
- All other tasks as required.

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Sparkling winemaking experience in a significant winery or related operation
- Change management experience
- Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and motivate those around you

**Physical and Other Requirements**:

- Current drivers licence is required
- Manual Handling
- Travel as required
- Ability to frequently lift cartons of wine
