**Core Responsibilities**
- Under broad supervision and direction, undertake the extraction of soil, water, dust and biological media for the analysis of total and bioaccessible fractions of analytes of interest
- Follow defined Standard Safe Operating Procedures to prepare samples for LC-MS/MS analysis
- Collate and interpret data within scope and complete all required testing documentation accurately
- Ensure testing apparatus are always in calibration and in good working order. Perform troubleshooting exercises on minor equipment issues
- Ensure that FII and STEM laboratory procedures and processes are adhered to and work environments are maintained to meet Unit and legislative requirements. This includes:

- Ensuring Safe Operating Procedures are available and displayed for all plant, equipment and laboratory consumables
- Ensuring all equipment is operated in accordance with WHS procedures and regulations
- Identifying and reporting any WHS hazards (and resolving when appropriate)
- Maintaining work environments and equipment in a safe and clean condition

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Environmental science experience and knowledge with relevant work history, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience and relevant history
- Demonstrated experience in exposure assessment testing, including bioaccessibility analysis
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and critically analyse issues
- Organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, work to tight deadlines and use initiative
- Customer service skills with the ability to communicate, build relationships, and work effectively, with a diverse range of stakeholders and cultures
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of best practice WHS principles and procedures, including risk assessments and maintenance control measures
