**Selection Criteria**:

**Role**:
**FGSC Literacy Leader**
The Year 7 to 12 Literacy Leader works as part of the Teaching and Learning Team to create a clear vision for learning and provide strong leadership in the implementation of the vision for teaching and learning. The Year 7 to 12 Literacy Leader will collaboratively work with Learning Specialists to improve the teaching and learning of Literacy.
**Position Purpose**:
**Strategic Direction**:
- Lead change proactively to ensure the implementation of key DE initiatives and the FGSC vision for learning
- Leads the implementation of actions from the Leadership Team and the Strategic Planning Team, to meet the goals of the Strategic Plan
- Understands and articulate the goals of the Strategic Plan and advocates across the school community
- Participate as an active member of the Leadership Team and the Strategic Planning Team
- Assesses the impact of the learning and wellbeing programs, using student learning data
- Leads the implementation of the school's instructional model
- Contributes to the population of the pedagogical toolbox with evidence-based strategies for learning and wellbeing.
- Leads the use of college protocols
**Leading Learning and Wellbeing Priorities**:
- Collaborate with the Leadership team to create a culture where all teachers are responsible for literacy improvement
- Develop and lead a whole school literacy plan focused on the improvement of literacy outcomes including NAPLAN and VCE
- Leading the development and implementation of whole school literacy support
- Audit curriculum to identify opportunities to incorporate or strengthen explicit teaching of literacy in documented curriculum
- Lead the college in understanding and using literacy data to inform instruction
- Identify students who will require significant additional literacy support to have their needs met
- Ensure all staff understand the links between low literacy and wellbeing concerns
**Leading Students**:
- Create opportunities for students to have additional literacy support or extension
- Support and encourage students to participate in wider reading activities, including promoting and organising FGSC library initiatives, excursions and incursions
**Leading Staff**:
- Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning (T&L) and Inclusion Leaders in analysing literacy data to identify inventions and to monitor student growth
- Develop and implement literacy-related professional learning to all and target groups of staff
- Provide leadership and support to Curriculum Learning Area staff to improve teaching and learning practices through leading the explicit teaching of literacy across all learning areas, team teaching and demonstrating and modelling best practise in teaching and learning with emphasis on literacy intervention and literacy across the curriculum strategies.
- Provide evidence-based literacy and HITS support to Learning Specialists Leaders, Teaching and Learning Team Assistants and Teaching Teams
- Create a literacy toolkit to support staff to teach literacy skills using evidence-based scaffolds
- Plan and deliver targeted mentoring and coaching, including running demonstration classes or videoing practice for others to observe
