**The Role**

The Accounts Payable Officer position will perform all duties relating to accounts payable functions for the City of Ballarat, while providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

This position would suit an organised and flexible individual who has a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. Naturally, you will possess well developed communication skills, with proven experience in providing excellent customer service.

**About you**

Working with limited supervision, you will have an eye for detail whilst being able to manage various workloads and deadlines.

You will be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with those in and outside of your team and partake in decision making processes.

Previous experience and knowledge of accounts payable functions and processes is required.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions,
- Process creditor invoices via Council’s accounts payable systems,
- Process vendor requests in line with Council’s policies,
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in relation to accounts payable and purchasing enquiries, and where necessary take corrective action,
- Assist in the production of payments to creditors on a weekly basis and/or as required,
- Monitor, review and maintain accounts payable transactions and systems,
- Ensure Goods and Services Tax legislation requirements are adhered to in relation to supplier and recipient created tax invoices,
- Assist in the development of a team culture that will continually evolve and promote best practice principles.

The salary range for this position is Band 4 starting from $63,507 to $67,690 per annum pro rata plus statutory superannuation.

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Successful completion of VCE or equivalent and/or relevant experience in financial administration.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven experience in an accounts payable, purchasing and financial environment
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage time effectively to achieve work targets and customer satisfaction.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively within a team.
- Sound knowledge of relevant information technology systems in relation to purchasing and accounts payable processing.
