Electorate Officer (Media & Communications)

About the Role Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community.Reporting to the Member of Parliament that nominates you, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is also a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community.
The team is seeking a individual with proven experience in journalism, communications and marketing, who is excited to serve the community. This is a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability and attention to detail.
Based in the Michaela Settle's electorate office (located at 15 Main Road, Bakery Hill VIC 3350), you will interact daily with constituents, community organisations and other stakeholders.

**Key responsibilities may include**:

- Leading media strategy.
- Social media and traditional media management, including strategy, analytic reviews, and regular content scheduling.
- Plan, write and edit material such as newsletters, media releases, speeches for the Member.
- Collaborate with government departments, community groups, and local councils to coordinate successful media events and campaigns.
- Fostering strong relationships with local journalists and stakeholders and proactively organising media opportunities.
- Monitor media, online communications, and responses to the Member's communications for relevant and topical issues and provide reports on trends or issues.
- Photography/videography at events.
- Handling constituent queries with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Proactively representing the Member on local issues.

Salary
Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021. 

**Grade 2**: $80,227,914 per annum plus 11% employer superannuation.

**The role of an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate**:

- Being a team player with a strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
- A track record of managing multiple responsibilities, meeting competing deadlines, and handling unexpected situations with grace, professionalism, and good nature.
- Possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, or marketing (highly regarded but not essential).
- Experience in communication, journalism, marketing, or high-level advocacy (highly regarded, preferably with exposure to government).
- Showing an interest in the Victorian Government & parliamentary processes (desirable).
- Holding a valid driver's licence.
