About this opportunity

The NACC has an IT Security Advisor position available for immediate filling in Canberra. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Information Technology Security Advisor (ITSA) is accountable for the development of ICT security processes, controls, and policies to support the agency. The ITSA will work collaboratively within the ICT team and the broader agency to deliver projects relating to ICT security.

**Key activities of this position include**:

- Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of the Commission’s cyber security strategy, including ICT security policies.
- Working closely with technical resources within the ICT team and/or service providers to deliver enhancements to ICT security.
- Working with service providers to manage ICT threat monitoring, reporting and security incidents.
- Actively participate in the Commission’s security improvement program, including enhancing maturity against Essential 8 criteria and uplifting the overall level of security awareness and maturity.
- Overseeing regular ICT security assurance activities including vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and audits.
- Take actions to mitigate threats, remediate vulnerabilities and escalate to senior management as appropriate.
- Identify needs, develop, and conduct ICT security awareness training/exercises for Commission staff.
- Ensuring the NACC meets all legislated and regulatory responsibilities for information technology security, including remaining up to date with amendments to the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Undertaking and contribute to regular reporting (internal and external) in relation to ICT security.
- Collaborating with the NACC’s physical security team to project harmonious messaging regarding security.
- Working closely with the ACSC and collaborating with vendors and the wider IT security community to identify trends and continuously improve services.

The NACC is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities. Supporting one another in this way provides opportunities for exposure across the agency and is an integral part of the NACC’s positive workplace culture.

Eligibility
- **Citizenship **- applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- **Security clearance** - this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.
- **Suitability assessment** - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
