**About the Role**:
The Principal Ecologist Threatened Species and Ecological Communities is accountable for managing and leading a team of specialists responsible for developing programs and providing advice across State and Commonwealth governments relating to threatened species and threatened ecological communities. The role will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and day to day management of a team of professionals including coordinating resources, managing staff and work priorities for the team. The incumbent is a recognised expert who will be accountable for providing authoritative and high-level input to threatened species and threatened ecological community assessments, policies and agreements, threatened species schedules under the _National Parks and Wildlife Act (SA) 1972_ and _Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act, 1999_ together with verbal and written advice across government relating to threatened species, threatened ecological communities' policies, strategies or the effects of development.

**Contract**:
Ongoing Contract

**Special Conditions**:

- May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
- Work outside of the normal hours of duty may be required.
- Interstate, intrastate and remote area travel is required, including travel in light aircraft and occasional overnight stays.
- A current First Aid Certificate is essential.

**Remuneration**:
PO4 $107,448 min - $116,936 max p.a.
