**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Biosecurity Officer - Invasive Species be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is to deliver tailored weed and pest animal management programs, and to provide professional support to groups undertaking weed and pest animal control programs and initiatives.

The role contributes delivering the agency’s priorities including stimulate growth and value, sustain the resource, and manage risk and recovery.

The position conducts extensive liaison across a broad stakeholder base, including regional landscape boards, state and local governments, land managers, community groups and the public, in order to deliver on landscape scale weed and pest animal management programs. The role will provide technical and planning advice; develop response extension materials; identify and support community leaders in management; provide individualised support to landholders; engage contractors; coordinate the delivery of weed and pest animal control services and equipment; and coordinate project budgets and resources.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel is required.

- **Desirable**: An appropriate Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or equivalent is desirable.
