These positions are Canberra based, with conditions of service similar to those in the Australian Public
Service, including superannuation.
**THE OPPORTUNITY**
The property project support roles are responsible for assisting in the development, coordination,
management and delivery of ASIS direct works and complex property related projects, with an emphasis on
construction, refurbishment and fit out within time, budget and quality standards, both overseas and within
Australia. You will manage and guide others and exercise autonomy in planning, managing, delivering and
evaluating property projects and activities. You will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation
You will provide detailed technical, professional and/or policy advice in relation to complex problems and
may assist in strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
These roles may require some overtime and travel overseas. Staff in the Property Branch will have an
opportunity to express their interest in supporting property project delivery (major and minor) both
domestic and overseas through requests for expression of interest (EOI). This role will require flexibility to
support the wider branch to take on other duties as required, particularly in relation to filling gaps in priority
functions where other officers are travelling
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
The following is an overview of key responsibilities and tasks:
Assists with project planning, identifying key deliverables and timeframes;
Monitor and track the project plan, including the project schedule, budget and risks;
Work under limited supervision as part of a specialist team contributing to the planning,
development and delivery of property-related ASIS projects and associated direct works across
locations both domestic and overseas.
As part of a team, make effective use of individual and team capabilities to provide a specialist
service focused on operational outcomes.
Manage key stakeholders, ensuring regular communications is provided;
Adhere to WH&S requirements.
Pursue and maintain effective relationships with counterparts internally, in particular with
Security, IMT, the Property Strategy team and also externally with relevant AIC agencies, DFAT,
other customer agencies and external suppliers
Provide reporting and advice to senior management and other staff
Working with line managers, assist with the development, coaching, mentoring and performance
management of project team members, and the identification of their training needs;
In addition to the above key duties, the level 6 will have additional tasks and responsibilities:
Supporting Team Leaders in their responsibilities; which may include supervising and guiding
internal and external team members, assistance in planning at the strategic and individual
project level, setting tasks and priorities, managing workflows, allocating resources and
assistance with building team capability through coaching, performance feedback or
encouraging career development.
technical knowledge to provide accurate and specialised advice and to deliver on allocated tasks
and projects.
Maintain awareness of longer term strategic, political or operational outcomes and the work
area impact.
**EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Demonstrated project and/or contract management experience and/or relevant qualifications
Commercial building background
Sound understanding of current legislative requirements, as applicable to the role
Experience in managing resources
Trade background
