The IT Technician reports to the designated Project Manager, ICT Support Services, Enterprise Technology Services, Information and Technologies Branch, Corporate Services Division.

Position overview:
As the IT Technician you will have responsibility for the following:

- Provide strong technical support capability, ensuring requests align with set standards and procedures, and meet agreed service levels, with the capability to develop and improve operating procedures where necessary. (SFIA, Level 4 - ITOP)
- Liaise with school representatives and operational teams within the department, in relation to the deployment of new technology and solutions (SFIA, Level 3 - CSMG)
- Identify and investigate issues and incidents using an analytical problem-solving approach to maintain and support a large and complex ICT environment. (SFIA, Level 5 - USUP)
- Coordinate with operational teams and contribute to the successful installation and decommission of IT hardware, systems and networks. (SFIA, Level 4 - HSIN)
- Provide appropriate information on incident reviews and statistical reports within the environment which can be consumed by team leaders, management, and other departmental staff.
- Contribute to the preparation of written and verbal advice, including briefing papers and technical documentation for the consideration of management and clients in relation to information technology services.
- Maintain a high level of quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to quality assurance expectations, policies and procedures, government and industry standards and best practices, proactively seeking improvements in the way in which work is undertaken.
- Act as an integral part of the departmental ICT operations teams, providing leadership, mentoring, and technical expertise to peers within operational teams, technical processes and new technology development. (SFIA, Level 4 - TECH)

Mandatory Requirements
- Possession of (or training towards) a relevant Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution or qualifications, which in the opinion of the Director-General, Department of Education or delegate is acceptable.
- A current C class drivers licence is a mandatory requirement for this position due to travel required between base location and schools on a regular basis.

Desirable attributes
- The ability to effectively prioritise conflicting priorities across operations and projects.
