**Principal Disciplinary Officer - Better Regulation Division**

**Salary range**:$116,211 - $128,601 pa + super ( + leave loading and accrued flex leave)
**Duration**:1 x ongoing role and 2 x temporary roles (approximately 12 months each)

**What’s the job?**
An exciting opportunity has arisen within NSW Fair Trading’s Disciplinary Action Unit for a Principal Disciplinary Officer. This role will suit a lawyer or policy officer with practical experience or a person who has deep skills in statutory analysis and drafting. This position carries out processes to initiate and conclude disciplinary proceedings under the legislation administered by NSW Fair Trading.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Reviewing briefs of evidence and submissions to make recommendations for disciplinary action
- Preparing and reviewing Notices to Show Cause and Decisions about whether to take disciplinary action
- Providing instructions to legal officers and counsel in matters that are appealed to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (and other courts and tribunals) including reviewing section 58 documents, written submissions and other relevant evidence
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including investigators, inspectors, legal officers, counsel and the executive
- Supervising and managing a small team

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- An understanding of or experience in reviewing investigation reports and evidence
- Drafting skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of the principles of procedural fairness and natural justice
- Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe products

Qualifications or experience related to building or certification would be advantageous but is not required.
