**About the role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen within NSW Fair Trading’s Disciplinary Action Unit for a Disciplinary Officer. This role will suit someone who is a law student or has a legal background assisting with business operations, conducting legal research and other administrative tasks.

**About the team**
The Disciplinary Action Unit is a team within the Investigations and Enforcement branch within the Better Regulation Division. It undertakes disciplinary proceedings against current and former licence holders under a range of Fair Trading legislation.

**Key responsibilities**
- Provide a range of administrative and support services to meet the business needs of the team/unit
- Respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues
- Gather and collate information for, and prepare documentation and reports on business unit performance, as well as make recommendations to improve efficiency, cost management and service delivery
- Maintain and update administrative practices, systems and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery outcomes

**Key challenges**
Delivering quality administrative services and negotiating workable timeframes, given competing client, customer and/or business demands and priorities, the need to address unforeseen issues, the high volume of work and the need to work independently.

**To be successful you will**:

- Ideally be a law student (undertaking part time study) or have a legal background
- Be familiar with interpreting legislation
- Possess well developed time management skills
- Be a team player
