The General and Gastro-Intestinal Unit is located at Flinders Medical Centre. The unit provides services across both the Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital, for inpatient and outpatient services, endoscopy and colonoscopy and is rostered to be on call to receive emergency patients and trauma for general surgery.

As the Consultant for General and Gastrointestinal Surgery (GGIS), you will work as part of a team to provide a clinical service within the GGIS Service. You will contribute to service provisions in the diagnosis and management of patients including preventive and surveillance activities. You will be actively involved in relevant teaching programs, and will support audits, clinical practice improvement programs, and programs of innovation including research.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong interest or proficiency in General Surgery and Complex Ventral Hernia Surgery, proficiency in Emergency surgery and general colorectal surgery, conjoint Committee recognition of training in colonoscopy and endoscopy and the ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with a broad range of clients, including staff of the hospital and members of the public.
