The NALHN Division of Surgical Specialties & Anaesthetics provides services to Lyell McEwin Hospital (tertiary site with links to the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia & Flinders university) and Modbury Hospital (teaching site).

NALHN currently has a limited plastic surgical service. There is a vision to expand this into a full department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with this position being the first step in that direction.

The Consultant - Plastic Surgery will be responsible for the provision of an effective Plastic Surgery Service within the objectives and the philosophies of the Hospital. In this role you will be responsible for managing the care of patients in collaboration with the responsible Medical Officers, Registrars, fellow Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. You will undertake clinical research expertise and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing research is essential.

As a Consultant you must undertake involvement in Continuous Quality Improvement activities, education activities, Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management activities, including regular Surgical Audit.

In this role you will work across both NALHN sites with varying levels of acuity.

The Consultant - Plastic Surgery will have a FRACS or equivalent and must have significant experience, and have undertaken subspecialist training, in the field of plastic surgery.

To be eligible for this position you are required to hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
