**About us**

The Court of Appeal is the highest court in Victoria and has jurisdiction to hear appeals from the Supreme Court Trial Division, the County Court and certain decisions of VCAT.

The Court of Appeal Registry is responsible for the efficient and effective case management of civil and criminal appeals to resolution. The Judicial Registrar oversees the operation of the Registry, which includes liaison with stakeholders, coordination of listings, directions, processes and procedures.

**About the role**

Judicial Registrar Mark Pedley is seeking a motivated, organised and flexible individual with good research, communication and computer skills to join the Court of Appeal Registry as his Associate. This role is for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility for extension.

The Associate is responsible for the management of the Judicial Registrar's chambers, undertaking administrative duties and legal tasks such as research, proofreading, preparing reports, memoranda and correspondence. The Associate plays a key liaison role between the Court of Appeal Judges, their chambers and the Registry.

Duties include:

- Provide administrative support including proofreading, preparation of correspondence, reports and other documents
- Assisting with legal research and case summaries
- Maintaining court records and preparing material for use of the Judicial Registrar
- Liaising with Judges, associates, court staff and the profession. Co-ordinate meetings, prepare minutes and contribute to the improvement of court practice and processes
- Some clerking in court
