**Division Responsibilities**

The Aged Care Quality and Assurance Division seeks to steward a high performing aged care

sector that instils community confidence by improving sector transparency and consumer

choice, and by supporting aged care providers to innovate and deliver the right care, flexibly

in the right way, for each individual. We will work to ensure that senior Australians receive

aged care services that high quality, inclusive and safe, and funding is used appropriately.

We lead and shape Australia's aged care system through evidence-based policy, risk based

regulation, well-targeted innovative programs and the effective delivery of reforms with a

focus on quality and assurance.

Our Branches support the provision of safe, inclusive and quality care for older Australians

through legislative reform, the design and implementation of projects and programs that

increase consumer choice and improve transparency and ensuring effective regulatory

processes for aged care providers and workers in order to improve quality, safety and

integrity of the aged care system and protect consumers.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Harmonisation and Regulatory Strategy Branch provides leadership in harmonising

regulation across the care and support sectors, and the design of a new regulatory

framework for aged care. The Branch undertakes extensive consultation with stakeholders

to develop the blueprint for the new aged care regulatory framework, that supports the

implementation of aged care reforms, including a new Aged Care Act. The design work will

take a best practice and risk proportionate approach to regulation, to future proof the

framework for a growing aged care sector. T

he Branch also leads implementation of the budget measure for ‘Aligning provider

regulation across the care and support sectors. It will investigate, in conjunction with the

Department of Social Services (DSS) and Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and care and

support sector regulators, opportunities to streamline the process and requirements for

services to be provided in the aged care, veterans and disability sectors.

**Section Responsibilities**

The Regulatory Strategy, Regulatory Implementation and Regulatory Model ICT Sections

work with stakeholders, including consumers, providers and regulators to co-design and

implement a new aged care regulatory framework that is person-centred and rights based.

Design work will focus on a modern, risk proportionate regulatory framework that delivers

reforms addressing the Royal Commission recommendations. This involves comprehensive

policy development, stakeholder engagement and consultation on regulatory architecture,

sector transition and change management, to develop advice to government and the sector.***

development and implementation of effective regulatory policy and reform
- Assist with briefing on the new model, responding to co-ord requests and ministerial

correspondence on the new model.
- Prepare and progress a range of documentation including, reports, work plans and

various procurement documents to a high standard.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a range of internal and

external stakeholders.
- Keep accurate and comprehensive records and provide secretariat support for

internal and external committees and relevant governance groups as required.***
