**About the opportunity**:
This position is permanent full-time.

**Accountabilities**

**The Specialist Teacher is accountable for**:

- Teaching, assessing and evaluating the progress of newly arrived EAL/D students using the ESL scales and EAL/D learning progression
- Working collaboratively with teachers to develop programs, practices, strategies and resources which support the English language and literacy learning of newly arrived EAL/D students
- Providing advice on appropriate modes of delivery that best meet the needs of newly arrived EAL/D students
- Providing expert advice to leadership teams, teachers and the wider system on matters related to specific newly arrived EAL/D students in accordance with CSPD guidelines
- Creating inclusive practice in school culture in relation to the effective implementation of personalised learning for newly arrived students
- Contributing to the leadership, design and delivery of professional learning with a focus on building teacher capacity to meet the needs of EAL/D students

**To be successful**:

- Tertiary Qualification in Education
- Experience in EAL/D education
- Statements of Service
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Sound knowledge of and commitment to our Catholic faith and mission in Catholic education
