**Principal Advisor - Technical**

Are you an experienced building professional/practitioner and regulator who wants to improve the standard of residential building work in NSW?

Join the team that is implementing a key pillar of the NSW Government’s ‘Construct NSW’ building reform program.

**About the role**:

- Grade 11/12 starting at $134,411 per annum plus superannuation
- Ongoing opportunity based in Parramatta

**The Opportunity**:
The role provides technical advice on building regulation issues across the Building and Construction Compliance directorate that promotes building regulatory compliance through auditing and education.

**Areas of regulation include auditing**:

- High-rise apartments prior occupation
- Design practitioners
- Whether apartments have been built in accordance with lodged designs
- Certifiers
- Low rise buildings
- Plumbing, gas and electrical trades.

**What you will be involved in**:

- Provide independent and expert technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders to promote compliance with building and construction laws
- Review technical and complex documentation to promote compliance
- Prepare and present briefings and recommendations in oral and written form
- Resolve complex on-site issues to promote compliance with applicable laws
- Harness technology, understand risk and analyse data
- Collaborate with your colleagues across the team and the Department to bring awareness and education to the industry.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will be technically competent and have considerable experience, as well as tertiary qualifications in a building/construction related discipline (eg. building surveying; construction; trade services; architecture; engineering).

You will act with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism. You will have advanced communication skills including the ability to write and review reports in a timely manner and provide expert advice to stakeholders.

You will be committed to reforming the building industry in a dynamic and results driven environment.

**Essential requirements**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a building/construction related discipline and/or relevant work experience
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Must hold current NSW drivers licence and prepared to drive throughout NSW as required
- Demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level
- Must undertake employment screening checks, security or other clearances and health assessments

b) a covering letter (no longer than two pages) which addresses how your skills and experience suit the role

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $134411 base plus superannuation
