**About the team**
Based in our Byron Bay office reporting to the Lead, Community and sits within the Cancer Information & Services Division. This Division assists people as they navigate the cancer journey, easing their emotional and practical burdens and helping them make informed decisions.
**About the role**:
This role is responsible for identifying and engaging key community stakeholders to foster a conversation between communities and Cancer Council, build sustainable relationships and ultimately improve cancer outcomes through the implementation of Information and Support Services, prevention and advocacy.
This role requires excellent relationship management skills, experience in community engagement and an ability to gather and use community insights, data and public health information to improve cancer outcomes. The Community Coordinator will work closely with the broader team to unite the community and build trust through our visible and relevant presence. This role covers a large area working in diverse communities, therefore travel is an expectation of the role.
**Key responsibilities of the role**:
- Identify, build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to effectively gather and utilise community insights to implement Cancer Council services and programs.
- Deliver, monitor, report and contribute to the evaluation of Cancer Council programs and services with a client centric focus.
- Collaborate with key community stakeholders to identify and address gaps in service provision and opportunities to improve cancer outcomes aligned to organizational
- Recruit, coach and manage volunteers to support Cancer Council in the implementation of services and programs
- Include supporters and key community stakeholders in Cancer Council engagement, learning and development and fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with local team and key internal stakeholders to integrate impact of Cancer Council services and programs into fundraising initiatives.
- Perform specific operational tasks related to facilities management, fleet management, Work Health & Safety and/or risk & compliance as requested from time to time by the Finance, Strategy & Operations & People & Communications Division to support the safe and efficient operation of the office location, fleet vehicles, and/or other assets or services
- Working closely with volunteers is critical - including recruiting, onboarding, training, thanking and supporting
**About you**
**Essential**:
- Tertiary qualifications in health, public health or similar
- A sound understanding of relationship management, community engagement and the ability to translate this into an achievable way of working.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and develop strong and effective relationships with health and community care professionals, government and non-government organisations, community groups and volunteers.
- Demonstrated understanding of the effects of cancer on individuals and families.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high performing team.
- Visible enthusiasm and passion for Cancer Council NSW's vision, mission and values
- High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Availability for and willingness to travel in and work with all communities across NSW
- Work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings)
- Class C driver's license
- Volunteer management experience
