**STATEMENT OF DUTIES
**Position Summary **The Literacy and Numeracy Teacher (MEEP - Mathematics English
Enhancement Program) will support small groups of identified Junior
secondary students (Years 7 and 8) to build on their foundation skills in
English and Mathematics. Using evidence-based intervention approaches,
the teacher will target literacy and numeracy skill development to support
and enrich student learning.
The teacher will work with the English and/or Mathematics Learning
Leader to review student data to determine specific skills that require
development and the target level required. Teaching will occur in groups
of less than ten (10) students, with each group having two-hour long
teaching sessions each week. The teacher will pre and post-test to enable
evaluation of student progress.
The Literacy and Numeracy Teacher is appointed by the Principal and is
responsible to the Deputy Principal - Student Learning Culture and
Growth.

**Responsibilities **Literacy - Interpreting explicit information, interpreting by making
inferences, reflecting on text, retrieving directly stated information,
developing vocabulary.
**STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Numeracy - Mathematical operations and arithmetic; addition,
multiplication and division, as well as developing organisation skills and
conventions.
- Pre and post-testing of students.
- Use a range of evidence-based tutoring interventions.
- When appropriate, providing teaching with a classroom environment.
- Liaise with the Learning Leader in Mathematics and/or English to
review PAT data and reflect on strategies outlined in the Teacher
Resource Tools, as well as accessing relevant textbook examples to
provide as models for students.
**Child Safety **- Be familiar with and comply with the College child safe policies and
code of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child
safety.
- Assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for students.
- Demonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their physical and
mental wellbeing.

- Assist with disaster response tests such as evacuations and lockdowns.
- Act as a Warden/Communications Officer in the event of an emergency
response.

events, mass, community and faith days as required by the Principal.
